The SAFER stories collection can be reached and researched here. We will however continue to share the stories of all those who have suffered an accident and want their voices to be heard and to make a difference.
Society suffers daily from heavy and unthinkable accidents still taking place due to driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, aggressive driving, distracted driving, unqualified driving and so on. The number of ruined lives grows unrelentingly. Yet we and others, such as Angels on the road in Bulgaria, are trying to change this violent and ruthless mentality so that we are all a little bit SAFER on the roads.
If our story collection has impacted you, you can also read “Stay alive” written by the journalist Georgi Stoyanov, where he has presented a collection of his own. He tells about a drunk man who killed someone in an accident. He tells about young boys who want to race rapidly because of movies and adrenaline. He tells about a drunk driver who crashed and started considering unlawful ways to get out of trouble. He tells about a traffic policeman who had a terrible shock at a car crash with fatalities. Unfortunately, these are just a few of the many stories included in this book. Reading them is not easy, but it gives us examples of scenarios, which we cannot even imagine and refuse to accept as something, which could happen to us.
Stay safe behind the wheel, on the motorbike, on the bicycle or on the escooter. Play by the rules and think of yourself and the others who love you or coincidentally surround you. Life is priceless and it is not our right to act in ways, which could damage or put an end to it.
With love and hope,
The SAFER team
